Great product -- use it to make wheat-free flour substitute!
I can't eat any kind of wheat flour, but since I discovered Almond Meal (Bob's Red Mill), my diet is much easier to live with. I use 4 parts almond meal with 4 parts garbanzo (bean) flour and 1 part potato starch (NOT potato flour)as a substitute for regular flour. I've made brownies, peanut butter cookies, banana bread, and carrot cookies and found the texture and taste are not noticeably different than the original recipe, at least to me.

Fry that chicken!
This is wonderful on chicken! I use this product to fry chicken in and it brings a whole new meaning to fried chicken! Just use the flour as you would any other and then pan fry. Delicious!

Good quality almond flour
I've tried this and it seems to be both better and cheaper than Bob's Red Mill brand. Buying it like this brings the total price down to around $7.40 per bag..the best deal for people needing to replace the regular flour in their diet. The only thing I can suggest is to carefully store this flour as it can go stale before you use it all. I would suggest a good glass or heavy plastic, sealable container which can go in the fridge. Also you can buy this directly from Honeyville for cheaper.

NO cross contamination possible - safe for GF diets!!
I just got my order so I'm not here to comment on how the product behaves for my particular baking needs, but I can say that before I ordered the product I called the company with concerns about the possibility of cross-contamination of their nut flours.I was diagnosed with celiac disease, only after significant damage nearly killed me. Even after years of healing on a GF Diet, my digestive tract is severely damaged. I have to be ever vigilant about my product choices.All food reactions should be carefully examined, but they should not be immediately or unduly blamed on gluten contamination. great deal, good flavor
I purchased this flour a few weeks ago and just baked with it the first time yesterday. I was very satisfied with the taste and texture of it. However, I called the company and they could not tell me anything in regards to their mills nor if there could be any cross-contamination. The lady on the phone seemed to think that the mills are shared equipment and that no precautions are taken to avoid cross-contamination. If you're buying it for low-carb prep only, it should be a good flour at a great deal. Please beware if you are using it to avoid gluten or other allergenic grains!Note: PLEASE READ COMMENT BELOW FROM HONEYWELL! They have since modified their manufacturing to eliminate cross-contamination.

It really is superior
This is the third type of almond flour that I've tried and it is the best by far. The other kinds produced a crumbly, clunky cookie and one left me with almond skins stuck in my teeth and gums.Even though I can buy almond flour at my local grocery store, I order this kind because it is much finer than anything I can find around town.The thing I like best about this company, though, is the customer service. I have very strict dietary limitations and I have called them several times to double check the ingredients in certain items. Even though I can tell they are busy, they always cheerfully answer my questions. It's a pleasure to do business with this kind of company.

We bought this meal to make healthy chicken nuggets, and it really tastes great. I like the nuggets even better than with breadcrumbs, and the kids loved them too. Where Can I buy Ground Almonds


Add 1/3 of the egg whites, all-purpose flour, and ground almonds into the chocolate mixture and fold gently. Call me crazy but I decided to open the vintage bottle of grappa that we had sitting at home when I read the recipe for Grappa, Currant, and Pine Nut Torte by Alice Medrich. Mix the all-purpose flour with the ground almonds. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, beat the egg whites and lemon juice on medium speed until white and foamy. Since I almost never buy these ingredients, I ended up making some minor substitutions but keeping the star ingredient – grappa. Gradually add the remaining 1/3 cup of sugar, beating on high speed until the egg whites are almost stiff. Place the chocolate and butter in a heatproof bowl over a pan of gently simmering water, making sure that the water does not touch the bowl. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, 2/3 cup of the sugar, and salt until the mixture is pale and thick. Stir the chocolate from time to time, until it is almost melted.

  While most people use store bought marzipan, made usually from almond flavoured apricot kernels, my grandmother used to buy ground almonds in a tin which you opened with a tin opener, I cant remember the brand name, but it was imported – British. ¼ tsp each ground nutmeg, ground ginger, ground cloves and fine salt.   Brush the marzipan and the eggs with beaten egg and set in the oven to brown gently, watching all the time for about 1 – 2 minutes, depending on the heat of your grill.   In a large glass bowl mix the sugar and the ground almonds.   Add the eggs one at a time and add about a third of the flour mixture with each egg as this helps prevent curdling. 250g ground almonds.   You will need to roll about a third of the weight of the almond paste to make a circle 18cm in diameter which will go into the centre of the cake. Simnel Cake is traditionally baked at Easter and has 11 eggs on top made from marzipan, signifying the 11 Apostles. 1 tsp vanilla essence [some like to use almond essence].   Spoon the rest of the batter on top and smooth over allowing a bit of a dent in the middle so that the cake ends up with a flat top.   The remainder will be used for half for another circle to place on top, and half to make the Apostle eggs.   Using half of the remaining marzipan, roll it out into a circle and place it carefully on top of the cake. For the almond paste.   Allow to cool in the tin for about 15 minutes, then turn out onto a cake rack to cool completely.   To make the cake mixture, in the bowl of a food mixer, cream the butter and then add the sugar and beat together until pale in colour and light in texture. 1 egg – for brushing over the cake before grilling.   Heat the apricot jam and brush over the top of the cake.

I will say: don’t skip the self-rising flour, you will need about 1 sweet potato for the whole two cups, and ensure you buy enough ground almonds as the cake calls for 1 & 1/4 cups. So this lovely Apple and Cinnamon Cake, for example, uses ingredients like ground almonds and two cups of shredded sweet potato to aide in binding and sweetening while lowering the amount of sugar needed and eliminating any oil or butter. As for the sweet potato, I couldn’t find the white variety at my grocery store, so I just went for the regular kind and it turned out just fine. This is where the sweet potatoes come in. If you have never heard of Cook Yourself Thin , the basic idea is to take meals that you love and transform them into healthier versions. I dug around through some of my bookmarks and came across this gem: Cook Yourself Thin’s Apple and Cinnamon Cake.

Also, different nuts release different amounts of oil which is why you should always retain 50% ratio of ground almonds in macaron recipes using other nuts. Not just plain chocolate shells but made with a fifty fifty split of almonds and ground hazelnuts and a touch of Kenco Millicano coffee powder for a subtle mocha flavour.  Usually when I make macarons I give the ground almonds an extra grind in the food processor and sieve the icing sugar several times. Repeat sweeping around the edge of the bowl and doing your ten strokes five times so that you’ve done fifty strokes. Using a silicon spatula, sweep around the bowl in a circle and then cut sideways strokes with the thin blade of the spatula through the centre backwards and forwards ten times. The macarons in Ottolenghi’s first book are rustic style as are the ones in Eric Lanlard’s Homebake book (if I recall correctly for the latter).
